ABOUT

ABOUT ME

Dr Ekundayo, John Moyosore Opeyemi (nicknamed JMO) was born in Ido-Ekiti, Nigeria in 1961. His father’s name is Joseph Ekundayo Ogunsan while his mother’s name is Mary Aina Ekundayo (nee Akinsola). He hails from Okeliwe Compound, Inisaloro, Odo-Ido, Ido-Ekiti in Ekiti State. His father before he passed away at the age of 103 was a hard working, passionate and distinguished farmer while his mother used to be a petty trader. Mama Elepo (her nickname), at age 105, is still alive, to the glory of God, hale and hearty!

Moyo (as most friends called him) attended Odo-Ido Community School, Ido-Ekiti and later completed his primary school education at NW5 Baptist Primary School, Inalende, Ibadan under the mentorship of his guardian, Chief Michael Oluwasanmi Ekundayo. He subsequently enrolled at St Gabriel Secondary Commercial School from where he left off continuing his secondary education at Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure in 1976 after Ondo State was carved out of the old Western State. He graduated from Oyemekun Grammar School with Grade One (Distinction) in June 1980.

The young Moyosore was mentored by his disciplinarian guardian, Chief Michael Olu Ekundayo, to master English Language, Mathematics and Science subjects so as to aspire to be a Civil Engineer. He sat for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examination same year, 1980, and was offered admission to read Civil Engineering in the then University of Ife (Now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria in August 1985. He is a registered Civil Engineer by profession and also a Missionary Pastor with the call to raise leaders.

Moreover, wanting to satisfy his quest for higher education in a foreign country, he left the shores of Nigeria for Singapore on June 6, 1980. He resided in Singapore for 4 years. By God’s helping hand, he both worked and studied in Singapore during this period. It was on record that during his sojourn in Singapore, he obtained through dint of hard work a Diploma in Leadership from the School of Leadership of Tung Ling Bible School, Singapore; and possesses a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Monash University, Australia. It is good to point this out that he was at this time of study working with Cornerstone Community Church, Singapore. In fact, it was the scholarship the church offered that helped Moyosore through the School of Leadership.

In addition, Moyosore, left Singapore for Malaysia in 2009 in furtherance of his quest for knowledge, he enrolled for a PhD (Management by Research) in Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK), Malaysia in August, 2009. It is interesting and intriguing to state that Moyo was doing his PhD research while his first son, Samuel, was also doing same in New Zealand (both without full scholarship). God made a way for Moyosore when Lagos State Government graciously offered him scholarship in 2011 to complete his PhD study in Malaysia through the approval of the then Governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN. He bagged his PhD in July, 2012; the first in his set. It was a record in one of the first private universities in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In the secular, Dr Ekundayo, JMO served as the Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Lagos State for six years until he retired meritoriously at the attainment of 60 years.

He is married to Mary Anikeola Ekundayo and they are blessed with four children: Dr Samuel Moyosore Ekundayo, Mrs Elizabeth Ifedayo Obiora (nee Ekundayo), Miss Gloria OlaJesu Ekundayo and Miss Grace Oluwademilade Ekundayo. In addition, he is also a proud grandfather of Oluwasemilore AdejolaJesu Ekundayo, Oluwaferanmi Adeogo Ekundayo and Udosinanchi Chidiebere Ifekorede Obiora. To God be the glory.
